Shekharji shouldn't have said it. Those who live in glass houses should not cast stones at others. Why make such a comment? It's not possible to give a hit all the time. And if a star can't do that, you can't go about ripping him apart. You can't kill a star for not delivering.

I seconded Mohit (Suri) when he got into this debate. There is no point in making a film and then saying that the audience isn't ready for it. If people don't like a film, then it's you who isn't ready for the audience and not vice versa. I find no reason to criticise that audience and term it as being silly. Movie-making is a business. You can't invest Rs 50 crore to make a film and then not have it generating business.
With such glaring differences of opinion between you and Shekhar, isn't it difficult for you to be in a relationship with his son?

Yes. Ever since my childhood, I've lived with the Miss Attitude tag. By now, I'm pretty much okay with the fact that people don't expect me to be sweet and nice. I'm not the kind who'd call up people and say: 'Let's chill out'. I love silence and isolation.
How do you shoot when the morning's papers have controversial stories on you?
I don't owe an explanation to the 100 crore Indians. That's why I don't call a press conference to defend myself. I don't want to be the archetypal nice woman and am not bothered about the world's view of me. I switch off my phone and don't browse through the papers that highlight controversies. I simply need to concentrate on my scene because that's what I'm here for in this industry.
Three films down the line and you've carved a niche for playing a wronged woman. Doesn't it get boring at times?
I might be playing very intense characters but I've never felt that I was repeating myself. Every role has had a variation. In Kites, I'm playing a spoilt girl of a rich parent.
Since you are the more successful partner in your relationship, don't you get spoilt silly too?
I'm not a spoilt girl. I've had my share of struggles. While I can enjoy my success, my partner has just started off. That's the irony of life, I guess. Both of us are understanding, though we fight a lot. And I'm the first to give in. I like to give Adhyayan that male ego trip. He soon understands that I was right and comes back to me!
How unconventional are you in love?
I'm boring in love while Adhyayan is filmi. Imagine, he sings to me while I'm not at all a romantic person!
